Week 6 : Filming

 


Filming

Hey guys! I have finished the filming of my new movie Panik, let me tell you how it went. 
Filming early on with the camera that was given to me by my teacher didn't really go well. I ran into a couple of complications since I never really used a professional camera before. Using the gimbal overall was a little difficult because it takes awhile to set up. Balancing the device is really difficult. I learned how to use it when my teacher showed me but once I got home the camera wasn't as balanced as it was when  my teacher did it. No matter how much I tried to mess with it, it just wouldn't balance properly. 

The camera was super hard to focus initially. I learned that if you halfway hold down the photo button it focuses the camera. The first night we started filming I didn't get all the clips I needed, and the second time we filmed I realized it was probably a better idea to shoot with equipment I am more comfortable using since I'm the only one working on this project. The environment was also difficult to work with because my actors were slacking off most of the time. The first time we filmed I had my antagonist, Kain being the bad guy in all black. We shot a couple of scenes but that was on the camera. When I switched to using the I phone 17 pro he told me he didn't want to refilm everything so I had to cut him out of the movie. Now I only had one actor to work with, which wasn't a problem for me. 
Shooting on the I phone was so much easier for me. I didn't get headaches from the camera not focusing.

 All it took was a simple tap and the I phone automatically focused on what I wanted it to. Filming went much more smoother then with the camera. When I first filmed with the camera it took me a little over 2 hours to shoot a couple of scenes, I believed I got a total of 15 scenes. But shooting on the I phone it took me 3 hours to shoot everything in one go. 

This project helped me learn how to work a camera, but in order to get filming done with, using an I phone was a wayyy better choice. Now I am ready to edit :)

I have a few updates for you, as you know we started the shoot of Panik and heres how things went!     First off, we started shooting around 7:30. As you know this is going to be a horror movie therefore we need to shoot at night to give that vibe. So my two friends, Kain and Nick came over to begin the shoot. Week 2: Story Board

  Story Board      Hey guys! I wanted to give you guys a little preview of my story board and upcoming things you should be excited about. First, we already have our film date set which is 2/21/26! Yes that's right!!! In exactly two days we will start the filming process. This means that the movie should be done sooner then anticipated which is always a plus. The editing process is going to be a whole other story because I still have to learn a bunch of thing with the program I will be using. Anyway, this little story board should give you guys an idea on what my project is going to look like.       Here is just a rough draft of what my film would look like, (don't mind my horrible drawing). If you break down each scene you can see how I tried to implement as much suspense as possible.
