Week 3: Costumes

Image
Costumes for Panik Main protagonist:  Very simple home wear. This shows that the character is innocent and is lounging at home during night time.            Main antagonist:  This character is supposed to look like an intruder. He's wearing all black to give a creepy off putting vibe. The ski mask is used to cover his face to make him seem like a criminal. The black cargo pants give a little bit of edge to the character like he's ruthless. And the timberland boots associate him with authority and violence. This whole outfit pulls together a great intruder.

Week 3: First Day on Set

Image
First Day on Set      Hey guys! I have a few updates for you, as you know we started the shoot of Panik and heres how things went!     First off, we started shooting around 7:30. As you know this is going to be a horror movie therefore we need to shoot at night to give that vibe. So my two friends, Kain and Nick came over to begin the shoot. In the beginning I was having trouble working the camera since this is my first time ever actually using one. After I tweaked with some of the settings I set it up on the gimbal, plugged in the mic to my phone, and began filming. Initially we were going to film scene by scene so it d...

Week 3: Production Set back/ Filming equipment

Image
Updates on production Hey guys! Unfortunately my actors didn't have time to film over the weekend because things came up. But don't fear because we will be doing the filming process today! I had to gather some filming equipment from my teacher so our film could be more professional. I decided to use a film camera rather than using a phone because the film will look 10x more professional.  Here is the equipment I am borrowing from my teacher: The first piece of equipment I am going to be using is a gimbal. A gimbal is a hand held mount that stabilizes a camera while it's moving. This is going to be super important for shots where my actor will be walking because rather than having a shaky hand held shot, the shot would be smooth. The gimbal uses motors and sensors to automatically balance the camera. Most modern gimbals are 3-axis stabilizers, (which I will be using). The gimbal tilts up and down, pans left to right, and roll side to side. For the camera I will be using a ...

Week 2: Opening Credits Analysis

Image
Opening Credits : Suit Season 8 Camera shots and angles: Uses close ups of- Eyes, suits jackets and ties, hands adjusting cufflinks, reflections in glass These create a sense of control, calculation, secrecy, this emphasizes on identity and professionalism. They use low angles and high angles of skyscrapers and occasional high angle city shots making individuals walking below to look small. The into uses slow motion of walking figures in suits. There are constant zoom in on people standing in front of glass looking dominant. These camera shots all reflect hidden motives, authority and confidence.   Editing techniques: The intro uses fast cuts rapidly between corporate interiors, street level New York, and close up of tailored suits. The pace of this conveys pressure. There is also layered visual transitions, it overlays faces of cityscapes and moving traffic with reflective surfaces. the tone created here is sleek, controlled, and slightly ominous. Sound techniques The music...

Week 2: Story Board

Image
Story Board      Hey guys! I wanted to give you guys a little preview of my story board and upcoming things you should be excited about. First, we already have our film date set which is 2/21/26! Yes that's right!!! In exactly two days we will start the filming process. This means that the movie should be done sooner then anticipated which is always a plus. The editing process is going to be a whole other story because I still have to learn a bunch of thing with the program I will be using. Anyway, this little story board should give you guys an idea on what my project is going to look like.       Here is just a rough draft of what my film would look like, (don't mind my horrible drawing). If you break down each scene you can see how I tried to implement as much suspense as possible. I am really excited about the scene where the audience sees from the antagonists POV, that's going to be really fun to edit. I already have tones of ideas about the...

Film Genre Research: Terrifier

Image
Film Genre Research Terrifier 2: Camera shots, angles, movements, focus and framing observations The first scene in the opening of this movie contains a shot of candles on a desk moving slowly to the left showing all the bright candle lights. The scene immediately after shows a montage zoom in shots of the different posters in the room to help the audience get an idea of who this person is. The next scenes show what's on the girls desk, this helps the audience figure out what she is doing. The audience can see that she is doing some sort of arts and crafts. There are blurry shots, and close up shots of her cutting fabric. Then after about a couple of scenes later it cuts to a black screen with red text giving the intro credi...
